Support centred around your child’s individual needs.
Children do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling or experiencing. Play therapy may offer a developmentally appropriate way for some children to express themselves, explore emotions and build a sense of safety within a consistent therapeutic relationship.
Individual Play Therapy
A child-centred space where play and creative expression may support emotional communication and exploration. Sessions are tailored to developmental stage and individual needs; children are not pressured to talk. Suitability is considered through consultation and assessment, and outcomes cannot be guaranteed. [Confirm practical details.]
Parent or Carer Consultations
Initial and ongoing conversations may help develop an understanding of current concerns, relevant background, strengths, existing support, expectations and appropriate next steps. Confidential session details are not routinely shared.
Initial Assessment
The assessment process considers the reason for enquiry, developmental and emotional needs, relevant family, school or professional information, and whether play therapy may be appropriate or another form of support may be more suitable. An enquiry does not automatically mean therapy will begin.
Reviews
Appropriate reviews may help consider progress, emerging needs and the direction of therapeutic work. Communication is considered carefully in relation to confidentiality and the agreed arrangements.
Specialist therapeutic support within school communities.
Wise Owl Play Therapy can work collaboratively with schools to support children’s emotional wellbeing, SEMH provision and pastoral care. Any arrangement should reflect the child’s needs, the school environment and clear professional responsibilities.
One-to-One Play Therapy
Individual therapeutic sessions may be delivered within an appropriate and confidential school space, subject to confirmation. [Confirm school-based availability, geographical coverage and room requirements.]
SEMH Support
Play therapy may form part of a school’s wider support for children experiencing social, emotional or mental health difficulties. It does not replace statutory, clinical or emergency services.
Staff Consultation
Appropriate consultation with designated staff may support shared understanding, consistency and communication around the child. Training is not assumed as part of this service.
EHCP Contribution, Where Appropriate
Professional information or contributions may sometimes be provided within the therapist’s competence, role and agreed arrangements. Statutory assessment work is not assumed.
Whole-School Wellbeing
Potential consultation or therapeutic input supporting wider emotional wellbeing provision may be discussed as a developing or commissioned service. Exact scope requires confirmation.
FOR REFERRING PROFESSIONALS
Collaborative support for children referred through professional services.
Wise Owl Play Therapy welcomes appropriate enquiries from professionals and organisations seeking therapeutic support for a child. Referral suitability, consent, safeguarding, funding and communication arrangements should be discussed before work begins.

Not sure which service is right?
You do not need to know exactly what support is required before making contact. An initial conversation can help clarify the enquiry and consider appropriate next steps.
